Overview

The journey takes you from Hue to Phong Nha through the historic DMZ, passing key wartime landmarks before diving into the dramatic landscapes of central Vietnam. The tour’s highlight is a full day of soft adventure in the Tu Lan cave system, featuring trekking through rural villages, river crossings, and exploration of spectacular limestone caves. You will also travel along the former Ho Chi Minh Trail to visit the magnificent Paradise Cave and experience the adventurous Dark Cave. Blending history, nature, and adventure, the tour offers a deeper insight into both Vietnam’s past and its extraordinary underground world.

    01

    Hue - Phong Nha

    Drive from Hue to Phong Nha passing & visit the former DMZ area with sites famous from the war: Quang Tri Citadel, Dong Ha, Doc Mieu base, Hien Luong Bridge and Vinh Moc tunnels. Check in to your hotel and relax.

    Overnight in Phong Nha.

    02

    Phong Nha – Tu Lan Cave – Phong Nha

    Between 07:00 and 07:30, pick-up at your hotel in Phong Nha and transfer to our local office in Tan Hoa (70 km). After a safety briefing, signing the release form, and receiving equipment, begin trekking through corn and peanut fields to Rao Nan River. Cross the river and explore Rat Cave (300m), one of the caves in the Tu Lan cave system, with helmets and headlamps, admiring its impressive stalactites and heart-shaped dome. Continue by climbing the 60m Baby Hill and crossing Hung Ton Valley to reach the dry passage of Hung Ton Cave. Return to Phong Nha in later afternoon.

    03

    Phong nha - Paradise Cave - Dark Cave - Dong Hoi

    Start your day by travelling on Victory Road 20 (Formerly the Ho Chi Minh Trail). The highlights of the day will be continued with a visit to Paradise Cave (Hang Thien Duong) which is the longest cave in South East Asia (31km) with astonishing stalactites and stalagmites. Leave the Paradise Cave for the afternoon Dark Cave visit. Drive to visit the old runway Khe Gat which was built secretly during the war before driving to the hotel in Dong Hoi.

    Overnight in Dong Hoi.

    Dong Hoi – Hue (or next destination)

    Free before return to Hue (or take your flight to your next destination.)

+ The remaining 50% must be paid at least 14 days prior to tour departure.

Cancellation

+ Cancellations made at least 14 days before the tour departure are eligible for a full refund.

+ Cancellations made between 14 -7 days before departure will incur a 50% cancellation charge.

+ Cancellations made less than 7 days or no show before departure will be subject to a 100% charge.
