On the evening of June 4th, the announcement ceremony for the 2026 Michelin Guide’s selection of culinary destinations took place in Hanoi. This marks the fourth year that this culinary guide has been present in Vietnam.

This year’s announcement in Vietnam is part of a journey to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first Michelin star being awarded worldwide .

This year’s selection list features 193 restaurants in Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang. The list includes 11 restaurants with one Michelin star (including 2 new establishments), 72 restaurants with Bib Gourmand awards (including 11 new establishments), 110 restaurants selected as Michelin Selected (including 9 new establishments), and 3 restaurants belonging to the Michelin Green Star community (including 1 new establishment).

Vietnam Culinary Tour 

A Michelin star is awarded to a restaurant that “offers delicious food, making it a worthwhile place to stop and enjoy.”

Eleven restaurants in Vietnam have been awarded a Michelin star, including: Gia, Hibana by Koki, Tam Vi (Hanoi); Long Trieu, An An Saigon, Akuna, CieL, Coco Dining (Ho Chi Minh City); La Maison 1888 ( Da Nang ) and two completely new names: ONVIT (Hanoi) and Upstairs (Ho Chi Minh City).

ONVIT is a fine dining Korean restaurant located in the Grand Plaza Hotel Hanoi. According to the restaurant’s description, the name “ONVIT” in Korean means “warm light”.

The restaurant focuses on contemporary Korean cuisine, incorporating local Vietnamese ingredients into its preparation. According to ONVIT representatives, the restaurant aims to utilize local produce along with cooking techniques and service to create a unique culinary experience.

Meanwhile, Upstairs pursues contemporary Vietnamese cuisine, preserving the spirit of traditional dishes but with a fresh perspective. The restaurant has only been in operation for 18 months.

The Bib Gourmand 2026 list has expanded to 72 locations, including 11 new eateries honored for serving excellent food at affordable prices. These restaurants include: Thanh Vân Traditional Rice Rolls (Hang Ga Street), Mammom, Pho Ha Hang Hom (Hanoi); Ba Ba Crab Noodle Soup, Tay Ho 127 Rice Rolls, Yen Crab Noodle Soup, Chi Mo, La Lola (Ho Chi Minh City); and Ba Vui, Banh Beo – Banh Dap, Le Gia Khang (Da Nang).

North Vietnam Culinary Journey

In the Michelin Selected category, nine new establishments have appeared, including: Mau, Huyen Huong chicken pho, ZAO (Hanoi); Apero, Nom, Ngu Binh restaurant, Sono, Tales by Chapter (Ho Chi Minh City) and Di Hoa (Da Nang).

Michelin presents its first ‘Debut of the Year’ award in Vietnam.Michelin Guide announced 9 new establishments to its Michelin Selected list and 11 locations to the Bib Gourmand category, and also presented the “Debut of the Year” award in Vietnam for the first time.

Michelin recognized three restaurants with its green star, including Tales by Chapter in Ho Chi Minh City, which joined for the first time thanks to its commitment to zero-waste practices and the sustainable development of plant-based cuisine.

Among the four special awards this year from the Michelin Guide, the award for Best Young Chef was given to Tran Phuoc Hau, born in 1990 in Da Nang, chef of The Monkey Gallery Dining restaurant.

The Wine Tasting Expert Award was given to Mai Bich Ngoc of ONVIT, who was praised by experts for her outstanding combination of multicultural food and drinks, from wine to pine mushroom soju. The Emerging Restaurant Award was given to Chef Chris Fong of NÔM restaurant (Ho Chi Minh City) and the Contribution Award went to Nguyen Thanh Van of Tales by Chapter (Ho Chi Minh City.

Cooking pho in an ‘unprecedented’ way, the first Vietnamese restaurant in the US receives a Michelin star . Growing up in America, chef Tung Phan has never strayed from the flavors of his homeland. This became the inspiration for him to found Camille – the first Vietnamese restaurant in the US to achieve a Michelin star in 2024 and 2025.
