Overview
| Ready to drink like a local in Hanoi? The Hanoi Beer & Spirits Tasting Tour by car takes you on a flavorful journey through Hanoi’s vibrant drinking culture. After hotel pick-up, enjoy a 20-minnute drive passing some of Hanoi’s iconic landmarks. We then head into the Old Quarter for a light bite such as Banh Mi or Bun Cha before stopping at a traditional Bia Hoi corner decorated in the nostalgic style of Hanoi’s subsidy era, where you can enjoy fresh draft beer & local snacks alongside locals. Your guide will introduce you to the unique culture of Bia Hoi and teach you how to toast like a local with the famous Vietnamese cheer: “Mot, Hai, Ba, Yo!” Continue to Hanoi’s famous beer street to sample a couple of well-known Vietnamese bottled beers, then visit a craft brewery to taste a flight of 3–6 locally brewed craft beers. The evening finishes at a cozy liquor bar where you’ll try several traditional Vietnamese spirits like sticky rice wine, fruit wine, and herbal liquor before your guide brings you safely back to your hotel. Note: Families with children under 18 will be served food, soft drinks, fruit, and juice instead of alcoholic beverages. |

Verified PurchaseBy Lukas Werner May 17, 2026 I DRANK ACROSS HANOI AND SURVIVED TO TELL THE TALEOh my GOD what a night. Started with bun cha (so good I almost cancelled the drinking part). Then Bia Hoi on a street corner with locals who kept cheering "Cheers!" at us—I felt like a movie star. Beer Street was LOUD and fun and I tried something called "Hanoi Cider" which was unexpected. The craft brewery gave us a flight of five beers and I loved the coffee stout. Then spirits: rice wine that tasted like fire and honey and happiness. I stumbled back to the hotel at 9 pm completely full and completely happy. DO THIS TOUR.

Verified PurchaseBy Greg Peterson May 15, 2026 I Sat on a Tiny Stool and Made Poor Life Choices (Loved It)I'm 6'2". Those Bia Hoi stools are NOT made for me. My knees touched my chin. Worth it. The bun cha was messy (shirt now has memories). Beer Street was overwhelming—so many people, so many bottles, so many chances to embarrass myself. The craft brewery samples snuck up on me; by spirit number three (some kind of snake-adjacent rice wine), I was taking photos of street dogs and sending them to my ex. Guide was patient and hilarious. Got home safely. Would absolutely ruin my liver here again.

Verified PurchaseBy Marco Fontana May 8, 2026 I Started with Banh Mi and Ended with Rice Wine. No Regrets.7:30 – Picked up, already thirsty. 17:45 – Bun Cha saved my life (hangry avoided). 18:15 – Bia Hoi on a plastic stool, surrounded by locals, 25 cents a glass. Dangerous. 19:00 – Beer Street chaos: Hanoi Beer, loud music, people everywhere. 19:30 – Craft brewery: 4 samples, one tasted like passion fruit. Weird but good. 20:15 – Spirits tasting: rice wine, chrysanthemum liquor, something that burned my soul. 21:00 – Returned to hotel wobbly but happy. Best 3.5 hours of my trip.

Verified PurchaseBy Ines Christensen April 15, 2026 Fun Night, But Don't Expect High-End SpiritsLet me manage expectations. The Bia Hoi experience is iconic—sitting on tiny plastic chairs, drinking 25-cent beer, watching Hanoi rush by. That part is five stars. The craft brewery was fine (beers were average, not world-class). The spirits tasting at the end? Three small shots of rice wine infused with vague "herbs." Interesting but not refined. Our guide was lovely, the street food (bun cha) delicious, and the company fun. But if you're a serious beer or spirits nerd, lower your standards and just enjoy the chaos. As a social evening? 8/10.

Verified PurchaseBy Katarzyna Wiśniewska April 3, 2026 A Liquid Ethnography of Hanoi's NightlifeThe tour functions as a vertical slice through Hanoi's drinking hierarchy. Bia Hoi represents the proletariat—fresh, ephemeral, consumed on curbside plastic furniture by laborers and office workers alike. Beer Street embodies commercialized youth culture: loud, fluorescent, performative. The craft brewery appeals to the aspirational middle class, mimicking global trends while incorporating本地 ingredients (rice, lotus, passion fruit). Finally, the spirits tasting connects to ancestral traditions—rice wine, fruit infusions, herbal remedies—served in a "cozy bar" that sanitizes folk practices for tourists. Deliciously educational. My liver volunteered for science.

Verified PurchaseBy Ines Christensen March 21, 2026 From Humble Street Stools to Artisanal HeightsThe evening unfolded like a well-structured tasting menu. First, Bia Hoi—light, effervescent, virtually undrinkable after 15 minutes but perfect in the moment, served on miniature stools that humble even the tallest traveler. Beer Street offered commercial benchmarks: Hanoi Beer (clean, unambitious) and Saigon Export (malt-forward). The craft brewery was the revelation—a double IPA with本地 lotus notes, surprisingly balanced. Finally, the spirits: a 40-proof sticky rice wine, a lychee-infused grandmother's recipe, and a herbal digestif that tasted like Hanoi's humid nights. Educational, intoxicating, essential.

Verified PurchaseBy Margaret O'Sullivan March 14, 2026 At 67, I Drank Rice Wine on a Plastic Stool. Wonderful.I wasn't sure about this tour. I'm not a young thing anymore. But our guide was so kind, and the bun cha was the best meal I've had in years. The Bia Hoi was light and refreshing—I had two! My knees complained about the tiny stools, but the laughter made up for it. The young people on Beer Street reminded me of Dublin in the 70s. The craft beers were too hoppy for me, but the rice wine at the end? Smooth and warm, like a hug from an old friend. Back at the hotel by 9 pm. Perfect evening for any age.

Verified PurchaseBy Anders Rønning March 9, 2026 We Fell in Love Again Over Bia Hoi and Rice WineWe've been together eight years. This night felt like a first date again. Sitting on those tiny plastic stools, sharing a glass of Bia Hoi, watching Hanoi's chaos swirl around us—we couldn't stop laughing. The craft brewery let us taste five beers and argue about which was best (he said IPA, I said the honey ale). At the spirits tasting, we clinked our rice wine shots and just looked at each other. The guide took our photo. We looked happy. It's now our phone wallpaper. Best date night ever.

Verified PurchaseBy Arjun Mehta March 3, 2026 Last Night, Hanoi Taught Me How to SavorThe hangover is mild. The memories are not. I learned that Bia Hoi isn't just beer—it's a ritual of community, strangers sharing plastic tables, no pretension. I learned that Hanoi's craft brewers are poets, infusing lotus and rice into rebellion against global blandness. I learned that rice wine, served in a shot glass by a man who learned from his grandmother, tastes like time. Last night wasn't just drinking. It was a lesson in slowing down, in sitting still on a tiny stool, in letting a city pour itself into you. Thank you, Hanoi. My head hurts. My heart is full.
