(TITC) – Phu Quoc has emerged as the sole representative from Vietnam to feature in the Top 10 trending resort islands for 2026, as announced by the global online travel platform Expedia. According to Expedia’s Island Hot List 2026, Phu Quoc Island (An Giang) ranked 9th among the world’s top 10 standout island destinations for the year.
Expedia reports a sharp global rise in demand for resort island vacations. Online search volume for this travel segment grew by an average of 55% year-over-year (YoY), while social media mentions surged by approximately 20%.
This trend reflects a growing traveller preference for destinations blessed with pristine nature, serene atmospheres, and rich cultural identities, rather than overly crowded traditional tourist hotspots.
Expedia highlighted Phu Quoc as a prime match for the “Affordable Luxury” travel movement. Online and social media interest in Phu Quoc surged by a staggering 235% YoY, underlining its magnetic appeal to international vacationers.
Over recent years, Phu Quoc has established itself as a high-end resort hub in Southeast Asia, providing top-tier hospitality experiences at far more competitive price points compared to other regional rivals.

Beyond luxury beachfront properties, the island attracts visitors with white-sand beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters. Rich ecosystems spanning both marine and tropical forest environments. Diverse tourist experiences, ranging from scuba diving and nature exploration to local cultural activities and mega entertainment hubs.
Expedia observes a clear migration of travel interest from traditional tourist centres toward emerging islands that offer tranquility, authentic local heritage, and greater value for money. To secure the best rates and broader accommodation choices, Expedia advises travellers to book early or plan visits during off-peak seasons.
