Vietnam has secured a remarkable double triumph in Tripadvisor’s latest Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Attractions in Asia, with two of its most celebrated destinations earning places among the continent’s top ten attractions: the War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City, ranked fifth, and Hoi An Ancient Town, ranked eighth.

Hoi An Ancient Town
The achievement underscores Vietnam’s growing appeal to international travellers seeking experiences that combine cultural depth, historical significance and authentic local character.
Unlike rankings determined by expert panels, Tripadvisor’s annual awards are based on millions of reviews and ratings submitted by travellers worldwide. Fewer than one percent of the platform’s more than eight million listings receive the coveted “Best of the Best” distinction, making the recognition one of the travel industry’s most competitive honours.
A museum that speaks beyond history
At number five, the War Remnants Museum stands as one of Southeast Asia’s most powerful historical institutions. Located in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, the museum offers visitors an unflinching examination of the resistance war of Vietnam through photographs, artefacts and personal testimonies.
Far from being a conventional museum experience, it invites reflection on the human cost of war and the resilience of those who endured it. Tripadvisor describes the attraction as educational, thought-provoking and emotionally impactful, qualities that continue to resonate strongly with international visitors.
Its ranking highlights a broader trend in global tourism: travellers are increasingly drawn not only to beautiful places but also to destinations that offer meaningful insight into history and society.

Hoi An’s timeless allure
Meanwhile, Hoi An Ancient Town secured eighth place among Asia’s most beloved attractions, reaffirming its status as one of the region’s most enchanting heritage destinations.
Nestled along Vietnam’s central coast, the UNESCO World Heritage site captivates visitors with its ochre-coloured merchant houses, lantern-lit streets and centuries-old architecture that reflects a blend of Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese influences. Tripadvisor praised the destination for its rich cultural heritage, picturesque atmosphere and diverse experiences ranging from riverside strolls and local cuisine to traditional handicrafts and boat excursions.
As dusk settles over the Thu Bon River and thousands of lanterns illuminate the historic quarter, Hoi An offers a scene that feels suspended between past and present, a rare quality in an era of rapid urban transformation.
